Biography

I have been smashing plates for over 18 years now and love everything about it.  From the hunt for unloved china, deciding what to make with it before the meditative process of finding where each piece should go.  I am now wielding my nippers in beautiful green and undulating Devon with my inspirational anarchic partner, Duncan, he is responsible for cutting out shapes on his awesome glowforge laser cutter (making seriously cool bitcoin and crypto goodies over at hodlr.rocks) and our boisterous dog, Panko. He lets us know when we have got too immersed in our work and need to take a break charging across the moors or beach.

My work is very varied, recently I have really got into the Pique Assiette style (which means taken from another’s plate!) I enjoy both 2D and 3D work, but having recently been blown away by Nikki de Saint Phalle’s work at the Giardino dei Tarocchi in Tuscany – I think the next project will have to be really, really big! I have had a number of successful exhibitions, Open Studios and commissions for a wide-ranging selection of clients.

Until recently I taught Design & Technology and Art at Gresham’s School in Norfolk, which gave me long holidays in which to be creative.  However we felt in need of adventure, so sold the house, collected P45 and left in our campervan for the West Country.  After 6 months of camping, we found a house and have set up a studio working from home. Heaven!
